Alan Wilder Bio | Alan Wilder Pictures
Alan Wilder was born on June 1,
1959 in Hammersmith, London, UK. After Vince Clarke left Depeche Mode in 1981 the band continued on with their second album 'A Broken Frame' (their first album as a three-piece). Alan joined them on tour in 1982 but did not officially become a member until 1983.
Over the next 12 years he helped to shape Depeche Mode and give them a darker, more mature sound. 1993's album 'Songs Of Faith And Devotion' was the last studio album to feature Alan, as was the subsequent tour, The Devotional/Exotic Tour, and he announced his departure from the group on 1st June 1995 - his 36th birthday.
Since then he has continued to work on another project, Recoil (whose origins can be traced back as far as 1986).
