Paper Monsters was Dave's first solo album, co-written with guitarist Knox Chandler. It was a moderate success on its own, and helped to boost Gahan's confidence as a songwriter both within Depeche Mode and on his own.
Singles included "Dirty Sticky Floors," "I Need You," and "Bottle Living." The first single "Dirty Sticky Floors" became a Top 20 hit on the World Singles chart selling over 200,000 copies, as well as hitting the Top 20 in the UK. [Wikipedia]
Live Monsters, the world tour for the album, included Knox Chandler on guitar, Martyn LeNoble on bass, Vincent Jones on keyboards, and Victor Indrizzo on drums.
Hourglass
Released: 2007
Hourglass was released with less publicity than Paper Monsters, but has been widely well-received as an impressive display of Gahan's growth as a songwriter. Created by Dave, Andrew Philpott and Christian Eigner, the album had a much more electronic feel than its predecessor.
Singles included "Kingdom" and "Saw Something."
To date, there has been only speculation of a tour to promote Hourglass - there is yet no official word on the subject.
