Some Great Reward

Some Great RewardSome Great Reward is the band's fourth studio album, released in 1984. The album saw the band's music becoming increasingly dark - likely not a surprise after the darker aspersions on Construction Time Again. However, it did feature the band's top single - People are People.

"Master And Servant" was the band's last Top 10 single in the UK until the release of "Enjoy The Silence" In 1990.

Critical acclaim:

Key single(s):

  1. "People Are People" (12 March 1984)
  2. "Master and Servant" (20 August 1984)
  3. "Blasphemous Rumours / Somebody (Remix)" (29 October 1984)

Track list:
  1. "Something to Do" – 3:47
  2. "Lie to Me" – 5:03
  3. "People Are People" – 3:52
  4. "It Doesn't Matter" – 4:44
  5. "Stories of Old" – 3:13
  6. "Somebody" – 4:27
  7. "Master and Servant" – 4:12
  8. "If You Want" – 4:41
  9. "Blasphemous Rumours" – 6:22

Important 'notes':
  • The title of the album comes from the lyrics of the song "Lie to Me": "Make me think that at the end of the day, some great reward will be coming my way."
  • Also, contrary to popular belief - that is not Alan Wilder on the cover.
  • All songs written by Martin L. Gore except for "If You Want", which was written by Alan Wilder.

Lyrics for each song:
