1. reach out and touch faith meaning

I dont know but all the pick up the reciever, telephone stuff has a big corelation with the early 80's AT&T ad that states reach out and touch someone.

Gahan is saying that he will be that person's saviour if they are needing someone to talk or confess to. I don't think it was any sort of statement against religion, prayer, or otherwise. I think the "reach out and touch faith" part is precisely what the previous response said...using a play on the "reach out and touch someone" line. By saying "reach out and touch faith", he's saying pick up the phone, give me a ring, I'll be on the other end to save you.

According to Martin Gore (and, FYI Third Anon., he's the songwriter--only very occasionally is something penned by Gahan), it's about the relationship between Elvis and Priscilla Presley. I do believe there is a Televangelist subtext to it as well, but it's primarily about people in relationships playing the role of saviour to each other.It doesn't really matter what the song is actually about. If one can find subtext in a song, regardless of whether it's intentional or not, it most definitely exists there. 3 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |
